Regular maintenance for the 2012 Ducati Multistrada 1200

This is maintenance that you can do yourself (though the manual says you need a dealer to do it).

Every 1000 km perform the following maintenance:

Check the level of the engine oil
Adjust chain tension

2012 Ducati Multistrada 1200 Maintenance Schedule Table

The following is the list of maintenance operations and to be done on this motorcycle with a distance or time interval — whichever comes earlier.

This maintenance schedule is in the same format as in the manual, though altered to fit this screen.

The distances and times are mentioned below. Whenever the first of either the time or distance interval is reached, the maintenance is required.

List of operations to be performed at 1000 km
Reading of the error memory with DDS on the engine control units and vehicle
Change the engine oil
Change the engine oil filter
Check the indicators and lighting
Check the safety devices (side stand switch, clutch lever switch, right switch engine stop switch and gear position sensor)
Check the battery charge level
Clean the engine oil pick-up filter
Check the coolant level
Check the brake and clutch fluid levels
Check brake discs and pad wear.
Check tyre pressure and wear
Check the drive chain tension and lubrication
Check the freedom of movement of the side and central stand (if installed)
Check the tightening of the safety components (ex. wheel disc nuts, brake callipers, sprocket tightening)
Check rubbing points, clearance and freedom of movement of the flexible cables and electric wiring in view
Road test of the motorcycle, testing the safety devices
Fill out that the service was performed in the Warranty Certificate
List of operations to be performed every 12000 km / year (first limit reached)
Reading of the error memory with DDS on the engine control units and vehicle
Change the engine oil
Change the engine oil filter
Check and/or adjust valve clearance (only every 24000 km)
Replace the timing belts (only every 24000 km/60 months)
Replace the spark plugs (only every 24000 km)
Replace the air filter (only every 24000 km)
Replace the front fork fluid (only every 24000 km)
Replace the coolant (only every 24000 km)
Check the indicators and lighting
Check the safety devices (side stand switch, clutch lever switch, right switch engine stop switch and gear position sensor)
Check the battery charge level
Check the coolant level
Check the brake and clutch fluid levels
Check brake discs and pad wear.

Check and lubricate the rear wheel shaft (only every 24000 km)

General Information on the 2012 Ducati Multistrada 1200

Upon its release last year, the Ducati Multistrada 1200 quickly became the bike of choice for many motorcyclists worldwide due to its versatility across four modes of riding – Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro.

The same reliability and flexibility in the machine that is basically four motorcycles in one returns with the 2011 Ducati Multistrada 1200. The new Multistrada 1200 is available in the standard form with optional ABS, and the Multistrada 1200 S arrives stock with ABS and Ducati Electronic Suspension by Öhlins as standard equipment.
