Ducati Streetfighter V2 (2022+) Complete Maintenance Schedule and Service Intervals

This is the maintenance schedule and associated service intervals for the Ducati Streetfighter V2, released in 2021 for the 2022+ model year. and service intervals — sourced from the owner’s manual, referencing parts diagrams.

The Ducati Streetfighter V2 is the latest in a long line of Streetfighter motorcycles from Ducati, the most recent being the Ducati Streetfighter V4. The V2 could be considered the smaller sibling of the V4, or a street bike version of the Panigale V2.

The Streetfighters are basically superbikes but barely detuned — just with some aggressively low handlebars and less fairings. But otherwise, they’re high-power, high-spec sportbikes.

The Ducati Streetfighter V2 is based on the 955cc Superquadro engine that also powers the Ducati Panigale V2. It makes peak power of 113 kW (153 CV / 151 bhp) at 10750 rpm, with peak torque of 101.4 Nm (75 ft-lb) at 9000 rpm — sportbike level performance.

Ducati Streetfighter V2 Service Intervals

Overall, the Ducati Streetfighter V2 has fairly wide service intervals of 7500 miles / 12000 km or annually, at which point you should change the oil and filter and do a bunch of other basic checks for leaks, lubrication, and correct equipment function.

The valve or “Desmo” service on the Streetfighter V2 is every 15000 miles or 24000 km. This is the point where you should also change the spark plugs, air filter, and some other parts.

Since the Streetfighter V2 has a chain drive (like most sport motorcycles), make sure you keep the chain clean and lubricated, especially after riding in dirty or wet conditions.

Finally, keep some fluids up to date that have a time-based service schedule, like brake fluid.

What you need to service your Ducati Streetfighter V2

Ducati specifies fluids that aren’t easy to get online. Even dealers often give substitutes. But here’s what they recommend for the Streetfighter V2, plus some alternative suggestions.

PartDucati Streetfighter V2 spec
Engine oilDucati recommends “Shell Advance DUCATI 15W-50 Fully Synthetic Oil”, or another oil that is the 15W-50, meets API standard SN, and/or JASO standard MA2. A good option is Mobil 1 15W-50 Full Synthetic or Motul 300V 15W-50.
Oil filterThe Superquadro 955 engine uses the same oil filter as many other high-end Ducatis, and you can use a HifloFiltro HF159 as an easy-to-obtain replacement.
Spark plugsStandard spark plugs are NGK MAR9A-J.
Air filterDucati part number for the air filter is 42610491A. DNA filters are popular replacements — use part number P-DU11S12-01.
Brake fluid/Clutch fluidDucati specifies using DOT 4, so use something high quality like Castrol DOT 4 full synthetic.
Front brakePart # for the front brake pad set is 61340121A. You can also use EBC HH brake pads with part number FA630HH.
Rear brakePart # for the rear brake pad set is 61340381A. The EBC part code for HH pads is FA266HH.
Chain managementDucati doesn’t specify a chain lube, so use something well-liked like Motul chain paste, or maybe clean it with a Motul chain care kit.
BatteryDead battery? If it hasn’t happened, it will happen. The replacement you need is a Yuasa YT7B-BS (12V – 6.5Ah 10HR) (common to many Ducati motorcycles)

Ducati Streetfighter V2 Maintenance Schedule Table

The following is the list of maintenance operations and to be done on this motorcycle with a distance or time interval — whichever comes earlier.

This scheduled maintenance chart is designed for a road use of the Ducati Streetfighter V2. If it is used on the track, even if not racing, all parts of the motorcycle are more stressed so the routine maintenance operations must be carried out more frequently than indicated. You can get customised advice from Ducati.

A few notes about maintaining a Ducati Streetfighter V2:

  • The cams are chain-driven, which means no belts to replace, unlike earlier Ducati motorcycles. Hooray!
  • The valve inspection service interval is 24000 km or 15000 miles. Not as generous as the most wide intervals in the twin motors, but not bad.
  • Some of the below items can only be done by a Ducati mechanic (marked [D]) as they need Ducati diagnostic equipment.

Chain Maintenance (Tension / Lubrication)

It’s important to regularly check and adjust the chain on your Ducati Streetfighter V2. Ducati recommends you check the lubrication every 600 miles / 1000 km, or more often if you ride in the rain, or in dirty conditions which mean you should clean the chain.

Lubricate your chain regularly. We usually recommend Motul chain paste — it’s cheap, easy to pack, and high-quality.

To check the chain tension on a Ducati Streetfighter V2, you measure the distance between the centre of the chain pin and the swinging arm. The motorcycle should be on its side stand with no load on it (no luggage, no errant pets, no friends posing for pictures). Chain slack should be 46-48mm (1.8-1.9 in).

To adjust the chain tension on the Streetfighter V2, Ducati recommends you go to a service centre. Which is interesting because it’s actually easier than on regular singarms — you don’t have to worry about alignment!

But like most single-sided swingarm Ducatis, you can follow the following procedure.

  1. You need a steel ruler, Allen keys, an eccentric hub chain adjustment tool (sometimes called a C-spanner), and a torque wrench.
  2. Loosen the swinging-arm retention screws on the rear of the eccentric hub. You need an Allen key (8mm on most Ducatis)
  3. Use eccentric hub chain adjustment tool (sometimes called a C-spanner) to turn the eccentric hub (look for the teeth alignments). You just need to make small adjustments to dramatically change the chain tension.
  4. Keep measuring the chain tension, seeing if it’s to spec, especially when everything is tightened up again.
  5. Tighten the eccentric hub screws to 30 lb-ft / 40 Nm.

Tyre sizes and pressures for the Ducati Streetfighter V2

The manual says that the Ducati Streetfighter V2 arrives shod with Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa IV tubeless tyres.

About the Ducati Streetfighter V2

Ducati Streetfighter V2

The Ducati Streetfighter V2 is the latest in a line of superbike-derived street bikes from Ducati.

It all started with the original Ducati Streetfighter, now known as the Streetfighter 1098. These are far more aggressive than “standard” sport bikes — they may have handlebars, but they’re far forwards, and the engine is basically the same as that found in the superbikes.

The Ducati Streetfighter V2 is based on the 955cc liquid-cooled V-twin “Superquadro” engine that has graced Ducati sport bikes since the Ducati 959 Panigale. It’s an engine that makes as much power as the full-on superbikes from Ducati did back in the era of the 1098. This is no slouch!

But these days, producing 113 kW (153 CV / 151 bhp) at 10750 rpm qualifies the Streetfighter V2 as a middleweight sportbike, much like how the Panigale V2 is the middleweight alongside the Panigale V4.

The Streetfighter V2 has a sophisticated electronics system. Whereas the original Streetfighter didn’t even have ABS, the V2 has cornering ABS and traction control, courtesy of the same 6-axis IMU found on all Ducati bikes these days.

The bike also has full LED headlights, DRL, and a 4.3 inch full TFT dashboard.

The Streetfighter was released in just one version – the base model. It comes with Showa BPF front fork and a Sachs shock at the rear. There’s no high-end option with Öhlins suspension, but the Showa/Sachs suspension is fully adjustable.

Brakes on the V2 are by Brembo, as they are on many Ducati motorcycles. And similar to many mid-range Ducatis, the calipers are Brembo M4.32 monoblock radial-mounted calipers, biting 320mm discs.

Suspension and brakes for Ducati Streetfighter V2

The Streetfighter V2 has wide maintenance intervals, similar to many modern Ducati liquid-cooled motorcycles. The basic services are every 7500 miles or 12000 km, and Desmo service has to be done at 15000 miles or 24000 km.

At the desmo service, you have to check the valves — and on a desmodromic 16-valve engine, there are 32 clearances to check. But it’s mostly access to the valves that’s the most time-consuming part, and then changing any clearances, if necessary.
