About the Honda VT750C Shadow ACE

The Honda VT750C Shadow ACE (or American Classic Edition) is a budget-minded cruiser that makes you want to think it’s a one-off custom.

But the Shadow ACE is anything but — in fact, it was one of Honda’s highest-selling models for the year 2003.

The Shadow ACE is powered by a 745cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine. It is fuelled via dual 36mm constant velocity carburettors, and the engine is designed around a SOHC, three valve per cylinder design (two intakes, one exhaust), with twin spark ignition.

The drivetrain is similar to other VT750s. There’s a five-speed transmission and a chain drive. The braking is performed by a 296mm disc up front with a simple twin-piston caliper, and a 180mm drum at the rear.

With a mild compression ratio of 9.0:1 and modest learner-friendly power, the Shadow ACE won’t set your hair on fire. But it’s a competent cruiser that looks really good and has very low maintenance requirements.
