This is the maintenance schedule for the MV Agusta Superveloce 800, a gorgeous piece of artwork from the Italian producers of “motorcycle art”.
Stepping away from aesthetics (if that’s even possible), the MV Agusta is powered by the same 798cc dual overhead cam 12-valve 3-cylinder engine that you’ll find in the MV Agusta F3. It puts out a claimed 145 hp (148 CV / 108 kW) at a screaming 13000 rpm, with peak torque of 88 Nm (65 ft-lb) coming on at 10600 rpm.
MV Agusta updated the 2021 unit with an IMU and cornering ABS / traction control, but apart from that the bike is mechanically the same.

What you need to service the MV Agusta Superveloce 800
If you want to do a basic service on your MV Agusta Superveloce 800, you’ll need the following items. MG Avusta recommends Motul lubricants.

Maintenance Schedule for the MV Agusta Superveloce 800
Below is the MV Agusta Superveloce 800’s maintenance schedule.
Service intervals for the MV Agusta liquid cooled triples is quite wide:
- Oil changes every 15000 km (9000 miles)
- Valve service every 30000 km (18000 miles)
But MV Agusta puts a lot more detail into their maintenance schedules. They have lots of things other manufacturers don’t mention, like replacing the timing chain and tensioner, replacing the clutch spring drive, and performing regular compression tests (along with valve service, while you have the tank off anyway). All this means that your required service by a dealer is likely to be more expensive.
MV Agusta lumps it all together into one huge table. But since this is confusing, we’ve broken it apart into separate sections:
- Chain maintenance
- Daily / regular maintenance
- Scheduled maintenance
To maintain the chain, at a minimum, check / adjust / lubricate the chain at the following intervals.

Your MV Agusta bike comes with a warranty booklet that comes with recommended “service coupons”, starting with A for the break-in service, and going up through the alphabet. The dealer fills in the service coupons and the customer keeps them.
- The break-in maintenance is not included. It’s the same list of items as the annual service (an oil change, tightening up of things that might have come loose, and checking for leaks). A dealer normally does this during the warranty period.

Tires and tire pressures for the MV Agusta Superveloce 800
Standard tires on the Superveloce 800 are high-performance Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa II, III, or IV tires (depending on model year you buy), which is a great tire you won’t need to immediately swap out, thankfully.

These are reasonable pressures and a good starting point for experimentation.
About the MV Agusta Superveloce 800
MV Agusta is known for producing attractive motorcycles, but the Superveloce 800 is the stuff of dreams for many motorcyclists, despite the impracticality of owning or riding a very expensive middleweight supersport.
Practicality would take you to a very different motorcycle. You may even stay within the MV Agusta ranks and get the same motor — albeit in a very different state of tune — in the MV Agusta Turismo Veloce, for example. But practicality isn’t what drives people to motorcycles like the Superveloce 800.
The MV Agusta Superveloce 800 is based on a high-performance 3-cylinder engine. It’s liquid-cooled, has dual overhead cams, and twelve valves, and uses a mechanical cam chain tensioner. The engine in base trim makes peak power of 145 bhp (148 CV, or “hp” as the Italians confusingly describe it), or 108 kW, at a sky high 13000 rpm. Peak torque is at 10600 rpm and is 88 Nm or 65 ft-lb.
The engine is similar in architecture and feel to the Triumph Street Triple 765 RS, but the Superveloce makes more power and of course is a leader in the style stakes.
Torque on the Superveloce 800 climbs steadily through the rev range. It makes roughly half its peak torque at 2000 rpm, so you can pilot it around at urban speeds should you wish. It’s at the 75% mark by 6000, but it really doesn’t have much of a torque plateau — though you could say it makes 90% of its torque between 9000 and 12000 rpm. That’s the fun zone.
As you’d expect, the Superveloce 800 comes with a lot of niceties to make the ride not just pretty, but high-quality.
It comes standard with a quickshifter and slipper clutch to help you slice up and down the six-speed transmission.
Braking on the front is via 320mm discs and Brembo radially-mounted monoblock 4-piston calipers, standard fare on many high-end sportbikes.
In 2021, MV Agusta made a surprising number of updates to the Superveloce 800 considering just one model year had passed.
Firstly, they added a six-axis IMU that give the 2021+ model of the Superveloce 800 cornering ABS, and lean angle-sensitive traction control.
Secondly, MV Agusta revised engine tuning, for more torque down low, and peak power coming in lower (albeit one paltry horsepower fewer, too). It also meets Euro 5 spec.
Thirdly, MV Agusta improved quick shifting via a new sensor in the electronically assisted gearbox.
There are a number of other small changes too. Maybe most distressing is that the black/grey colour scheme was abandoned for yellow/grey, which I think is a downgrade.
MV Agusta also released the Superveloce S, available in white/matt gold only. It has gold spoked wheels and an Alcantara seat, plus a full arrow exhaust system along with a remapped ECU. (You can get the exhaust/remap on other colours too.)
